at 21 i finally refused to be under the hand of anyone anymore. even the hand of this messed up system we all seem to call normal. where’s the rock n roll man? where’s the ambition? where’s the freedom?

my entire childhood i was shoved psychiatric medication and was told i was disordered and wouldn’t amount to anything in my life. by my family and by the doctors. can you imagine having a doctor tell you that you should just file for SSI because you’re not going to amount to much anyway with all the pills you’re on? yeah neither could i…

i had nothing. everything that made a teenage girl a teenage girl i didn’t have. i wasn’t allowed to date, i wasn’t allowed to hang out with my friends when i wanted to, i wasn’t even allowed to go to prom…i was controlled with those drugs. manipulated, gas lighted …. beaten. taught to believe i needed them because i was ill. my life wasn’t a “life”, it was a hamster wheel. going, going, going but never truly getting anywhere…and that left me cold.

so many things i wanted but couldn’t have except this one thing in particular. and that…was music. it was my escape, my safe haven, the one thing no one could take away from me. the one thing i could still believe in and hope for….

and that tiny glimmer of hope led me here…

whatever you go through in life, use it to fuel you. use it to drive you. use it to sculpt your story. don’t be afraid of the shadows cause they’re just shadows…don’t be afraid to go against the norm…create your own norm.

i may have the voice of an angel, but rock n roll is my soul and freedom is in my bones. Lets chase it together. <3

Indie rock musician Faye is an award winning musician based out of Columbus, OH. Faye embraces the influences artists such as Nirvana, Halsey, Eddie Vedder, The Pretty Reckless (and many others) have left on her. Faye's orginal song ""Pink Dress"" was selected in 2018 as a semi-finalist in NSAI's National Top 40 contest. Faye has worked closely with Taylor Swift’s former manager Rick Barker and has had the privilege of making it to Round 3 of American Idol auditions. Recently she became a semi-finalist in the Unsigned Only International Songwriting Competition out of over 10,000 submissions and is now on the roster with UK's Liberty Music PR.
